Master the Message: Designing for Outcomes

We communicate to create clarity, instill belief, and compel action. In this seminar, we will explore the art and science of cutting through noise and landing ideas. We will review the fundamentals of effective composition, linguistic choice, and writing style, and we will discuss where generative AI should and should not play a role. Through case studies, examples, and hands-on exercises, participants can expect to learn actionable strategies for sharpening their eloquence and increasing their value.

Michelle McDermott and Jen Shatwell will co-facilitate this virtual development dialogue, focusing on the following ideas:

  • Begin with the end in mind: Audience analysis and message objectives
  • Position or be positioned: Expectancy theory and narrative frames
  • Be intentional about language and tone
  • Write with style and substance, and self-edit
  • Honor your message with the right delivery medium

Your registration includes complimentary readings and an optional, one-to-one coaching session following the seminar. The seminar is limited to a small number of participants to drive meaningful conversation and deep learning. Our agenda will span three two-hour virtual sessions across two days, as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 13: 10:30 am-12:30 pm Eastern and 1:30-3:30 pm Eastern
  • Wednesday, May 14: 10:30 am-12:30 pm Eastern
